Introduction

In this packet you will find FUN using the web while you enhance your learning, enlarge your vocabulary and excite your creativity glands. You will use what we are learning from our current math chapter to complete this packet and complete the packet using what you are learning from our current math chapter. Below is a summary of what you will do to complete this packet. Don't forget to filll out the summary completion sheet and staple it as the first page of the packet. The activities must be arranged in the order you see them summarized below.

This packet is due on Friday April 29 by 11 am.



The Task

In this packet you will complete a:

  • Online Study and Quiz   
  • Shape Diorama 
  • Spherical Shape Puzzle
  • Practice with Flashcards
  • Play a Game of Matho 
  • Crossword Puzzle

The Process

 

#1  This activity will help reinforce your “Geometry” vocabulary.  This is just a review of the new vocabulary words we are learning about in our math chapter.  Read over the page and scroll down and click on next. Do this until you reach the end of the study where you will find a quiz.  Take the quiz, print, and include this in the packet.

#2 You will build a diorama.  Here you will find a list of shapes.  Draw a shape from each of these categories.  Draw it on construction paper or cardboard or wallpaper or construct it from anything you can think of.  Be sure you have a shape from each category listed and be sure it is colorful.  As a class we will vote for the most creative and a prize will be awarded to the winner!!!  If you can’t remember what a diorama is come see me.

#3 Answer the questions on this page. Print and include in your packet. In your packet you will find an enlargred version of the sphere along with the shapes you see at this website. Color and cut out the shapes.Find how many of each of these shapes are in the sphere . On a sheet of paper paste each shape and tell me how many of these shapes you found in the sphere.

#4 Once you are at the site ckick on 'flashcards'. Scroll to 'geometric shapes'. Do 40 of these. Print your results and include in your packet.

#5 Play a game or two of Matho! Click on the Activity button and then click on 'Matho'. You will see a big box with many figures on it. At the bottom of this box you will see a yellow box with the name of the object. Click on the figure in the big box. Do them all. Go as fast as you can. Print and hand in the results. There is a prize for the fastest person.

#6 Complete the crossword puzzle. If you get stuck refer to the chapter in your math book. All the answers are there!

Remember to organize the assignments in the order above before you hand in your packet. If you don't do this points are deducted.

 

 

 

 



Evaluation

This packet is worth 70 points. 10 points for each activity and 10 points for proper organization.

 

Completion

Minus 10 points for each incomplete activity.

All Activities have been completed.

 

Organization

Minus 10 points for improper order.

The activities are in the proper order.

Conclusion

You should now be an expert on shapes and their properties . This will make the next few chapters in your math book alot easier for you.
